The title may sound like the beginning of some spicy romance short story where I find myself in a love triangle (square?) with some rich, powerful, and mustachioed people, but it’s a bit more mundane than that. Or maybe I’m just saying that to trick you into reading my first go at something a little more…exciting. I promise you’ll be a diehard fan by the end.

But, while a romance short story is definitely, 100%, for sure, extremely on-brand for me, what this post is actually about is jobs.

Doctors. Lawyers. Firefighter. I’m pretty sure that even though my parents are both performing artists, these were the three career options I knew were available to me at age 6. There is no way I knew what a lawyer did, but what I did know is it was legit. Since then, though, I’ve acquired more life experience and learned that you can also choose to be a business person or a professional athlete, making five total options. So, my horizons are expanding.

In reality, I now know that there are so many jobs in this world I will never know them all. Any item I buy or experience I have or food I eat or book I read has a whole host of people behind it who have made it possible. There are color designers, materials scientists, farmers, soil experts, machinists, mechanics, line workers, and on and on and on.

So, so, so many different jobs and life experiences.

With that in mind, I’d like to share just a few interesting ones I’ve stumbled across that caught my attention. I’m not going to do a deep dive into what I think about them and try to convince you they each mean some grand thing about society. Just watch them, and if you feel so inclined, tell me what you think. For me, each of these felt like a window into some corner of the human experience I simply did not know about. It was a delightful experience. Hopefully, it is for you, too.
